Hey guys,
I'm newish to the area and just want to make an official introduction. A little about myself:

I was just discharged (honorably :)) from the Army after 4 years, 1 of which was under STOP-LOSS, and two deployments.

My wife is attending the PA program at Harding University, which I am currently finishing prereqs for. Her family lives here and I have been in and out numerous times, so I know the state pretty well.

I have lived in Colorado the past four years, which was part of my inspiration for getting a Cruiser since there are SO many there. After wheeling everywhere I could find both in and around Colorado, I'm still looking forward to doing some wheeling in different terrain.

Anyways, I wasn't sure if there were many Cruiser-heads in the state but already I've seen a couple of kitted 80's and more than a few 40's so I know you're out there!

Here's the most up to date photo I have. Next week I'll be helping Bobby over at The Cruiser Company put on my OME Heavies. I look forward to getting to know everyone! :flipoff2:

Nice 450! Welcome to AR and to the site. You need to come join us at the Southern Cruiser Crawl in October and get to know some of the local Cruiser fans. Oh- thanks for your service too!

What kind of wheeling are you looking to do in your heavy'd up 450?
 
I do everything really, and with the lift I'm sure I'd be willing to do more. I've taken the Nomad on everything from the rocks in Moab across rivers (and I do mean rivers) in Colorado. I've got some memories etched on the truck, so I'm not too shy when it comes to taking it through terrain that might leave a mark or two.

I've built the truck so far with Overlanding in mind, specifically my upcoming trip in May 2011 when I embark on a 12K mile trip up to Alaska and back. I'm looking at my schedule for the upcoming Crawl, I'm looking forward to it if I can get away.
 
Welcome to Arkansas!! We're semi-planning some other wheelin' trips/camping for later in the fall once we get out of this inferno!! Keep a watch on the site and you should see some chatter about where we will be going.

I've skimmed your Alaska thread, but haven't read it all...

Which mapping software did you choose?
 
I ended up going with the Delorme TOPO software. After spending a couple of hours with it you get used to it, but in retrospect I might have gone with another one. The interface just isn't as user friendly or intuitive as some others.
 
8.0 or 9.0?
 
I'll have to look, it's a couple years old.
 
No sweat. I just got into 9.0 and am liking it. Definitely not point and shoot, but like you said once you spend some time with it it seems nice.

So how are you liking the lift so far?
 
AWESOME...only complaint is the fact that I don't have the ability to just head out on a whim to any nearby trails. Hopefully, I'll get to stretch the Nomads legs at the SCC.
 
Fraustrating isn't it? Back before 9-11 the north side of Camp Robinson was open and I could be there in ten minutes. Post 9-11 they keep it closed off and I've heard it is guarded by giant three-headed dogs or something.

We also used to have good public land to wheel on in the Pangburn/ Wilburn Cherokee land area outside Searcy. Used to go out there all the time when I was in college (Harding). It was closed down 4-5 years ago because of oil and gas drilling operations--or at least that's the reason I've always heard. There are a few trails out Col Glenn Rd (both sides) where I grew up and my parent's still live. They are kind of tight now for a truck. It'd take a lot of use of a machete and maybe a chainsaw in a few places to be able to wheel it. It's owned by Stephens, Inc.

HAHA...I think the pictures I've posted are hiding the brush marks well. I'm actually attending Harding right now for their PA program.
