Good day guys, it has been quite a while since I last posted in the forum. Particularly more active in the 100 Section.
Having had an excellent ownership experience with my 2006 100 an opportunity to grab a relatives 200 came up and it was to good to pass up.
It is a 2008 Land Cruiser VX (Mexican Market spec), Armored level B 6.

My only objection is the color but it was not enough to be a deal breaker.
It needed some minor repairs such as the rear springs as you can see in the photo.
And a couple of other small items in the armor the car has since brand new.

So far the only mods I have done are aesthetic. They painter the 17" wheels gray and the front chrome grill now is gray as well as the rear Land Cruiser tailgate lettering.

My 200 is for the Mexican Market so it does not have the GPS screen you get in the US Version which is great in case it breaks and allows to install what ever aftermarket stereo I prefer.
More pictures to come once I get it home.
But just wanted to share.

By the way any suggestions in where to source Iron man Springs would be greatly appreciated.

Wow. Jealous. Would have jumped all over that. Any idea how much it normally costs to armor a 200? It's pretty huge... I know that.

I didn't think you could roll the windows down once armored?

I think that is correct. The one I was in in Afghanistan could not roll the windows down.

so what happens if you get pulled over the cop is knocking at your window? - Cops generally don't like you to open a door on them

As soon as he taps on the window he'll know its an armored Cruiser. Pretty unmistakeable. Looks a little weird from an angle, too. Sort of like looking at the edge of someone's temple through their eye glasses.

No reason to respond at all. You're in an armored Land Cruiser after all. Just leave. ;)

Prices for the armor start at about 30K for the very basic levels, they protect I think at the most against a 45 mm.

This one all in was $190K. When new back in 2008

Beautiful truck. So are you bringing it back stateside, or keeping it in MEX?

Deffinately, I use it to go to Chihuahua for business. My current 100 is also armored.
Here is a link to my current 100 The project list for my 06 LC

Yes you can lower both windows at least on both my LC and a the other Armored vehicles my family owns. Depending who made the armoring job. Its an extra option with the armor.
I had a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited that all 4 windows could be open.
In any case if you decide not to open the window at least my 100 and now my 200 have Intercom and PA systems so you can talk to the people outside without opening the window.

Some of the extra gear my 200 has is the following:

Reinforced suspension using Ironman parts
Run flat system in wheels.
Intercom and PA system
Emergency lighting and strobe lighting.
GPS tracking
Sealed cabin (anti smoke or any type of gas systems)
Dead bolt locks
Tear Gas system.
Fire suppression system Like the ones on race cars.
Fuel Cell gas tank (like race cars)
Reinforced inner bumpers (In a crash they wont collapse)

Perhaps the Cruiser in Afghanistan had a higher level...as it definitely could not roll the windows down...

I bet the cop would love to be responded to by a PA system - ha ha I may get one and try it out

I have been stopped once state side. The cop was very impressed but at the same time very curious to know why I was driving an armored car in the US.

There are at least 50 Armored 200 locally they belong to the Department of State and they are used by agents ranging from DEA to CIA to go to Juarez Mexico to the US consulate down there.
I actually trained with many of dose guys a couple of years ago.
Their LC are much more like the one you rode in Afghanistan, they take most of the comforts out. Windows don't roll down at all.
They even have military style tow hitches.

That's interesting. I had no idea - thanks for the education

Ya, that would jibe with my experience, as the one I was in was used by the State Department in Jalalabad.

My brothers G65 is armored and you can roll windows down. He paid $$650k for the truck. $600 was for the truck and $50k was for armor. Due to location of vehicle tax is 300% + bribes to bring the car in the country...

The ones that don't have windows roll down (my uncle has the 70series cruiser with that setup) is comparatively super Spartan

the armored cars my family has, all run yellow plates, which are diplomatic instead of black plates

Cops don't have balls to ever pull you over on a yellow plate car if they want to keep their jobs

Last January I was pulled over in a black plate Nissan patrol . We could have not pulled over and sped away, but we pulled over, rolled window down 1/4 inch and out $100 bill out and cop took it without a word

Life outside of the USA is quite grand

We should party together.

Very common in Mexico Too. The only do not touch plates I know of in Mexico are the foreign ministry plates issued also to Embassy staff. But then again you have organized crime groups that still dose plates to get road immunity so your only option is to stop and tip the guy if he is a nice guy or ask for the ticket which usually ends up with the Mexican cop asking for a tip in order to avoid all the paperwork.
Aslo dose plates are no longer nice to have... they attract unwanted attention... best to keep a low profile.
About a year or two ago one of the US embassy 200's in Mexico city got ambushed.
