Hi, I have been on Mud for a few years, and have been in the Cruiser community a few years longer. Last year I decided to design and build my own expedition trailer. As a result 4x4 Tent Trailers was born.
In the overlanding world, there are many different trailer designs and manufactures out there, all of which were priced to high for me to be able to afford. With my background in welding and fabrication, I went to work on building one from scratch. I started by using things I liked from other trailers I have seen as well as just my own needs, a wheel base and bolt pattern to match my 80. Ever since building mine, there has been a flood of interest and no shortage of customers desiring an "affordable" expedition trailer........ well, thats what we do.
We build affordable, economical, and durable expedition camping trailers. We will also build custom trailers to your specifications. No longer do you have to put off having a good expedition trailer because the price makes them unobtainable for the average person. You can buy one of our trailers in its rawest form, basic all the way up to a loaded unit. Come visit us at 4x4 Tent Trailers Or 4x4 Tent Trailers

BTW, we use WWW.CAMPINGLAB.COM tents on all of our trailers.

That is SWEET! More than I can afford at this point (thanks to many other projects coming before any serious camping/expedition stuff), but still, looking at everything you offer, that's a great deal.

I had to  at the air conditioner and on-demand hot water system. That ain't roughin' it!

......be handy though...

mkguyvr....looks a lot like my home-built one - only with a LOT more goodies!!

Awesome design I must say - looks like great minds think alike!

In my photo, I don't have the RTT on it during this previous trip... as we camped in the condo :)

I've gotta look at your kitchen ideas...the Rubbermaid Action Packer boxes aren't working for me anymore!

Looks like you make awesome trailers....can't wait to compare 'em and see them on the trail and swap notes- I'm sure I'll see you selling them to 'Mudders here in Colorado soon!

I dig the kitchen / food prep design . . . swing out door with sink is freaking sweet!!

I've got the hot h20 setup done, but the kitchen is where the camping begins - you've got that part licked!

I'm pleased you went with the pintle and lunette hitch....can't beat the off road capability of that set-up...but there are some competitors out there with fancy tip and turn style hitches that provide a lot of movement. Your 80 series towing it proves that it can do crazy things with a military style hitch!

Thanks CCJ, I have plans for a few more add ons to the kitchen, a stove oven combo, drawer under the stainless shelf etc. You trailer looks great, did you get a tent on it yet?

Thanks, I have been trying to refine everything to get a trailer that suits most peoples needs, as well as is tough as nails, the hitch, other than being noisy really is very capable. One thing to note, I have seen a competitors trailer, with the expensive hitch, flip right over on its tent on an off camber downhill spot......wasnt good, and the hitch was so bound up at that point it was a struggle to get it right. I have taken my trailer up and down that same spot a few times, with no issues. Sometimes simple is better, btw, the other trailer had the independent airbag suspension.....which is believed to be the reason it went over, but had it been a pintle, the hitch would have limited the roll over and the trailer probably wouldnt have flipped. I like how quiet the other hitches are but if you are not in stop and go traffic, you never think about it.

Your trailers are pretty sweet! Helps me plan and dream a little about when I'll have my own in the future. Congrats on the write-up!
