There are so many cool little trucks on here lately I thought I'd put mine up. Happened to be cruising Craigslist at lunch years ago and was surprised to find this advertised in the town where I work. (There are essentially zero old Japanese vehicles around here.) Call the guy up he asks where I am/work turns out he works the same place. (He's retired - but if he was still working he would be working for me BTW.) Drive out there - turns out he lives in the same township as I do.
In my ignorance I was buying this at basically scrap value thinking maybe SAS for my Tacoma. Go to pick it up the next day and the wife is very agitated that he's selling it for what he did because of the volume of calls he had gotten. She actually wanted him to reneg but he stuck to the deal. The funny part is that his mom had to sign the title over. And Tom was in his late 50's when I bought the truck. Don't know if he had insurance or credit issues back in 1982 or what.
So obviously it's a heap. The bed is wasted. (I actually bought a much better bed from Ferg or Theferg I can never remember which. I can put one good bed together with a lot of work.) Cab is actually pretty good except the floors have holes. 4 speed. 147K miles. Smokers vent windows. Rear slider. Factory radio. I think the wheels were originally white. The frame is rough particularly in the left front. I do what I have to to keep it yard driveable. Rebuilt the carb a few years back because it just wouldn't run. Runs great now except for a massive exhaust leak which sounds like a manifold issue. Just this month I had to put calipers on it as pistons were rusted in their bores. I'll need to keep up on the fluids maintenance. Coolant is next.
This is not a build thread I just wanted to add the march of old trucks showing up. I wish I could say that mine had "patina" but it's just rot. So this is not a build thread.
I repeat this is not a build thread.
