Hi All,
First time poster, long time viewer of the site. Great insight here, so I appreciate all the forums and great detail. I have finally been able to purchase a 100 series, fulfilling a long time dream of getting one. I've been fixing her up based on the importance of the issues. I got a 2003 LX with 206K and it mainly spent its life in Atlanta - all stock.

The good:
- rust free underneath
- good interior
- long maintenance history
- Seems to have been pretty well taken care of
- Everything works

The issues:
- steering rack leak
- rear main seal oil leak
- heater Tees (just replaced)
- swapped front axle (was slinging a lot of grease)
- passenger condensation in floorboard
- transfer case needs service

For now I'm going to monitor the first 2 leaks as they don't appear pressing and I just noticed the condensation since it's finally in the 90s here in SC. She also clunks into gear at times, but shifts smoothly while accelerating. Just had a fluid flush so I don't know if it's a big deal or not.

Down the road, the goal is to wheel a bit with it, take it camping, etc. but it will be a long term process with some mods/upgrades along the way. Have to address the known issues first.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself to the Cruiser community and I'm looking forward to the ride!

Looks like a nice clean ride, congrat's. It sure seems like I see a lot of new members picking up LX's more so than LC's. Were there more LX's sold than LC's I wonder? Same on the auction sites, quite a few low mileage LX's being auctioned, LC's not so much. Anyway's, hats off to ya, hope you're able to have some fun with it!!

Thanks! I saw a post where roughly 2X as many LX's were initially sold than LC's. I also saw a lot more of the LX available during my search and the prices seemed more favorable as well. Cream wasn't my first color choice, but the main objective was to get one with no rust and in relatively good shape. Overall, I'm happy to start the journey!

Looks like a good one, and that you've already identified critical maintenance/baselining needed. Nice find!

Welcome!

Curious about the night view or night vision option you have. Is that a functional accessory for night driving?
It works but not sure how functional it is. Maybe at low speeds, but certainly seems distracting above a crawl. I'm not sure it's factory either.

Wow that is CLEAN. And I just love Sand Dollar Pearl!

Thanks for posting - must have recalled the 03s mainly

Nice LX, I've got an '05 in white (Blizzard Pearl) with gray seats. Cream is pretty cool, I hadn't seen that before.

Best use case I've seen is looking for pedestrians at night. When someone was walking with a flashlight and that's all I could see, I just looked at the HUD and noticed it was two people walking facing towards me.
Unfortunately, it is not useful for deer. They can be seen more easily through the windshield most of the time. I now leave it off.
