Hello guys, after more than a year of lurking around it's finally time to properly join the forum. I moved from a short fling with Montero to a 2008 LC. By the way, the Montero is really an underrated rig - it's very capable, great transfer case/gearbox/locker but still not a LC. This is the JRouse's old rig, some of you in MS might recognize it.

The LC feels/is huge compared to the Montero so I call it the Monster. I had to make some sacrifices to upgrade to the LC so it will become my daily driver (ouch, the mpg will hurt).

Right now the plan is to replace the radiator, starter and water pump - they are all original and still going at 160K.

In terms of mods, I ordered the WK sliders and I hope in a not too distant future a rear bumper (maybe the RLC one).

For those of you who are local to SoCal, reach out if you need a hand with tackling a project or just want to chat about LCs. Thanks

Welcome! Nice looking rig there. I had a silver 100 series for 13 years as a favorite color.
Happy with my dark grey now, but always liked silver.

I'm in San Diego, as are a fair number of regular 200 mudders... Escondido, Ramona, and others.
Maybe we'll see you around one of these days.

The “minivan” was a fun car to drive, don’t say anything bad about it ryanCA :)

I've always loved that Montero. I remember the original for sale ad. One of my close friends has a green Gen 2.5 that's built to the gills - he's traveled all over the US with it. Monteros are certainly overrated. Boxed/laddered frame, locker, massive rear axle. They never really caught on in the US.

Anyway, you'll like the 200. I love the colormatched bullbar. It's a great look on a silver rig.

You missed the joke

Around here everyone recently is going Gaga over minivans and recommending our new members to buy them

I was congratulating you on buying a proper vehicle ....

2018 - The Year of The Minivan

---

I think it's a PSYOP by Mud members to reduce the consumer demand in the LC secondhand market.

Sorry, yes, I missed the joke, I didn’t know it’s the year of minivans, I thought the world moved to cross-overs :)
