Just wanted to throw out an introduction.
I picked up a 2004 "hundy" (learned that from you guys) with 113K. I'm amazed how smoothly it starts and runs, it's practically brand new on the inside and all the buttons and other tech work. I dare say that wouldn't be the case on a Jeep with that many miles on it but I digress.
I come from the Jeep world for about 15 years, owned a Cherokee, YJ, TJ and recenlty a JK. I've been on Jeepforum for many years as well.
I decided to take the Toyota plunge, I've always liked the TLC and am very excited to turn this one into an "expedition" type vehicle.

I've learned a lot from you guys already and hope to sponge up as much LC knowledge I can.

I already have a list a mile long that I want to do/buy but I'm starting with ditching the running boards and factory grill guard this weekend (for sale if anyone's interested, both are in like new condition).

Cheers!

best of both worlds here, a hundy and an LJ. Welcome!

Welcome to Mud @greenrover.

Griffin - Pretty sure you have my LJ. Hope it is treating you well.

haha, yes, small world. Loving the LJ, still wearing off the new.

If you haven't found one yet, gl on the hunt for a hundy!

Would that grill guard fit a 99? Just got my 99, and wouldn't mind having a guard on it. How much?
I'm not sure if it'll fit a 99, looks like it would. There were a few changes to the body but the front end/frame/etc looks the same to me.

I'm not sure if there is a way to send a private message on this board but if so hit me up there if your still interested so we don't bother other folks.

Welcome to Mud @greenrover.

I've spent some time underneath the Cruiser and checking things over thoroughly. I'm really impressed with the engineering and solid build of everything; things are tidy and mounted well.
I've attached some pictures; I can't believe how clean this truck is for having 113K miles. Is this normal for the Cruiser or did I just get lucky? No leaks to speak of except for what looks to be a CV boot leak or something on the drivers side CV joint...thoughts?

Thanks all;
~Ed

Don't get me wrong, I love my Jeep! We just need something with more room that is also off road capable. We go to the beach alot here where we drive rite on &We r a family of 5 and can never take any one else with us. Plus we have 2 company cars (mine an Escape &hers a Taurus) that seat 5 and want a more roomy vehicle for trips to North Carolina. plus, When I sell the jeep that is almost paid 4 I will be almost debt free!! So it's bittersweet but I've had this Jeep since Jan 09 (only 38k on her now) and its time to sell it. I will have another some day, prolly a LJ.

I hear you!! Cant beat the 100. and by the looks of your jeep it does not t seem fair to the trails that you have such an advantage...

@greenrover Yea, it looks like something is leaking on what looks to be the DS LCA. Pro'ly a CV boot like you wrote. If it is in fact leaking, you can get an OEM CV boot kit pretty inexpensively. IIRC, for around $40.

I loved my Jeeps too but I'm changing my type of wheeling I do from technical rock stuff (which gets expensive in a Jeep) to more overland/expedition and camping. It's no fun trying to sleep in a 2 door Jeep and overall they aren't comfortable not to mention the lack of room. I also have some issue's with their reliability.
