Interesting rear bumper concept...

Hey 200 crew,

I ran across this on YouTube today. Super minimal rear bumper, more of a bumper chop that is reinforced by some bent tube underneath for strength...

Hmmm

@FlightMedic178 has a thread about it here. I've been contemplating bumper sliders too perhaps with a different style, but generally the same concept. Particularly for the rear bumper corners as departure angle seems to be a common vulnerability.

Looks like @FlightMedic178 s rig. He has a thread on it here. I almost copied this idea before I decided to go full bumper with swing outs.

Wow, I'm relatively new to the 200 series forum, and that's a great thread, @TeCKis300

@FlightMedic178 , slick stuff there~!

@FlightMedic178 traded in that truck a while back. Still curious who the new owner is. I saw it driving in Phoenix a few months back while I was walking my dog, so I think it's still local here

Great idea for sure

The GX guys have been doing this for a while. Nice idea but not for me.

Anyone know what tire size @FlightMedic178 was running on that white rig?

I wonder why he sold?

As long as I've known him he likes to change things somewhat often, and he likes things that can be classified as "basic". That was part of what he was going for with his 200 was making it more "basic" with the steelies and removing all the chrome. If he coulda got cloth seats he probably would have. I was sad when he sold, but he's rocking a manual Taco TRD Sport now which is pretty nice and he's happy with.

I get it, that's why I had the Poverty Pack 80 and why my current RAM 3500 is just barely above a completely stripped down work truck. For things that will be worked hard and used as tools it makes sense to have less to destroy lol.

Yeah same here. I know myself, and I imagine quite a few others were hoping with the recent boom of Overlanding, that a more basic (foreign GX trim equivalent) would be coming to the US. Cloth maybe, no nav screen maybe, 17" steelies, factory snorkel, barn doors.....and maybe a $70K ish price? 😢😢😢. Instead we got the exact opposite, the LX600 only. Oh well.
