I will be acquiring a 1979 40 series in the next few week. It is complete but rusty as hell. I'm trying to figure out whether I should part the truck, or make it run. It is a complete truck with a 2f, but it stopped running and has sat for about 3 years, the owner recalls it being a fuel issue but neglected to fix it because it was rusty and a POS in his mind.

The fenders and rear quarters are rusted pretty bad. It has a complete interior, rear fold down seats, roof rack, Warn winch, roll cage (looks to be stock), ambulance doors. The frame is solid with no signs of an rot. 2f w/4 speed manual.

Like I said, if there is enough interest I will part the truck out, if not I will probably end up making it run and dumping loads of money into, most likely sending me into debt and regretting the investment in a few years time.

jump seats dibs if you part it, does it have the bottom dash pads/rollbar pads. what carb is on it also intrested.

I may be interested in the steering column / steering wheel.

Pics :)

If it's not a total POS, I'd vote for get it running and wheel it. But keep in mind your fuel mileage would be dismal.

fuel milage sucks....but i think i like the gassers better for wheeling...dont ask me why but i always seemed to like my fj40 a bit better then my bj42 for bush duties...save for the carb flooding out. will be fixing that by doin propane. cant think of anything off hand that i would need from a parts truck tho...

She's rusty, but sexy. I went and looked the truck over, I will probably try to get it running, but I don't know if I want to dump loads of money to get it running. The body needs some attention, but the rust adds character; I kinda like it.:p

How's the frame? If it's okay, I say go for it. :)

Will that much rust be a problem for safetying it?
