I have GROM audio with bluetooth and I can never imagine going back. I have it set up where I just get in my cruiser and the music plays automatically.

if you want to be able to actually use the phone (as a phone) this is the only way to fly!

But with the Grom don't you lose your disc changer? I'm considering this for my 03 with Nav.

I have the USA SPEC and although it works with the changer in an '03, I haven't once used a CD since the installation.

That's the only downside, but when you have your tunes on your pod or phone it's kinda redundant. I was bummed to lose it but haven't missed it at all.

I rarely use the cd changer and I'm sure once I have an iPhone solution I'll never use it, but I still don't like losing it as an option. What's my best option?

You can plug Bluetooth device in the iPhone adapter to stream music wirelessly.

I installed the MML from Vaistech. I had two goals; 1. Stream Pandora Radio from my iPhone while charging the phone, 2. Play MP3 files from my 8 GB USB thumb drive.

My work phone (with an unlimited data plan) is an iPhone 4. Both my personal phone, and my wife’s phone, is a Samsung Galaxy S4, hence I didn’t want to limit myself to just the iPhone connector that comes with the USASpec.

Streaming Pandora Radio is fun, for a long drive. But for shorter trips, I find myself listening to the radio or my USB thumb drive, which is full of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of songs. I haven’t actually listened to a CD forever.

With the MML, is there any factory function lost, disk changer for example? Does It work in a 2003 with nav?

With the MML, I didn’t lose any factory functions. Actually, my wife was playing CDs in the changer the other day. The steering wheel controls still work. I just realized I haven’t tried connecting my Android phone to the MML. I just tired and it didn’t work. Vais sells the SL3B for Android phones.

Here’s a link to the application guide. It doesn’t show 2003 and older.

With the MML, you dont lose any factory functions. The MD changer appears as a new Device. Pressing the Disc button cycles between the iPhone(MML) and the DVD/CD changer.

Not sure about 2003 but with the 2006 there's no change to Navigation except that you dont need to press the "I agree" button anymore, the MML agrees instead after 5 seconds. Frankly, I didn't think that would be a big deal but it is pretty awesome...:).

Not to beat a dead horse, but the thing to remember about the MML is it doesn't give you phone functionality which I didn't realize when I installed it. If all you want is to play music it works great.

Well, since it appears that the MML is only for 2004+, I'll probably be going with the Grom. Do you also lose the rear DVD functionality with the Grom?

MML worked perfectly with my '03, though officially it is unsupported. Just buy the kit for the LX.

MML does not sacrifice the changer as it has a piggyback plug for the back of the stereo. Grom does sacrifice the changer as it doesn't have the piggyback plug.

Pretty much the same as everyone else here, I have great luck with my USASpec adapter. Using the iPhone 4s 32Gig and it has the six programmed playlists that you can run thru, but you have to manually start a non-TOYOTA1 playlist if you want anything else.
And watch the cord, I drilled into the console and keep mine protected.

I have a USASpec BT35 and it works great. Easy installation, and issues with cables or drilling because it is Bluetooth. And I keep the DVD player. My iPhone emulates a Mini Disk on my nav screen. You don't have art work and such on the screen, but I don't care. All buttons work including the steering wheel. I also installed the microphone for handsfree but barely use it (nobody calls me). I keep my phone in my pocket and it connects automatically when starting the vehicle. I started with a iPhone 4, then a 4s, a 5C and now a 5S. All worked flawlessly.

Just got an MML today. Anybody have a link to the thread with a photo showing how to remove the factory head unit? Search doesn't seem to be up and running right now ;)
