I want to cut mine as well! Anyone done this?

Thanks,

mine has a round trailer plug and came with the integrated hitch... I think that is the 7 pin plug maybe? I'm not a big trailer guy so don't know all the trailer hookup configs

For those of you who may need one of these: the complete part number for the hitch insert is a 51990-60010. I don't know if the bolts come with it, but if not, the part number for them appears to be 90148-12003.

Just bought one from American... the bolts come with it. PN 51990-60010 Support Assy, Towing

I ordered the bolts also but didn't need them.

You will need a T-55 Torx bit for the bolts.

I had both my car and my camera handy......hope this helps.

Look at the second pic, the "cover" snaps into the bumper of this style from the factory. I don't think the factory "cover" will work with the standard bumper that you just cut the hole in as the places for it to snap in are not there.

while on the topic, anyone know where I can find a pintle that will fit that hole pattern? I bought one off ebay thinking they were standard, turns out the holes are about 4 1/2 in apart on the 100 series and most pintles are 3 1/2 in or so... I have found part numbers for Toyota, but they are non- US spec so no one seems to be able to get one here...

Not a non-US part as a lot of 00-06 (I think) Lexus LX470's had the factory cutout from the factory. You need to try a Lexus dealer.

I bought the whole package off ebay from someone who sold their LX and never used it for $25 but have not cut a hole in my bumper yet.

That was my next search, the Lexus dealer since most of the LXs I have seen have the bumper cutout. My 03 has the rare cut out ... I'll try Lexus and Japan4x4 export Thanks!

As far as the inserts hitting the tire, you can loosen the spare tire and push it back a bit to make more room. It worked for me to allow an insert that initially wouldn't go in far enough to clear the pin holes.

Another issue I struggled with was that the integrated hitch seemed to have rounded corners and some inserts seemed too square to fit and I initially thought it wouldn't fit the squarer ones at all (without grinding). From my experience of trying about 5 different make/models of inserts one morning when I was frantically going from advance auto to autozone to walmart to home depot to uhaul etc, eventually I realized that while the squarer ones were harder to fit in, they actually did fit with some coersion and lubrication. Oddly even within the reese models - some reese seemed to have the rounded corners that fit easily and some had the squarer corners that didn't fit easily at all.

Hope that saves someone else from some stress and bloodied knuckles ;-)

I had to grind the corners down on the bar slightly... repainted and works great!

Question for those with welding and/or towing experience...

I really want to use this integrated hitch.
I believe this integrated hitch is rated at 5,500lbs, so I should have no problem with the roughly 1,500lbs I'm currently towing, but I want to make it stronger for piece-of-mind and for potentially towing more weight in the future.

Question: Can I significantly increase the towing capacity / hitch integrity by welding this integrated hitch to the cross member?

TIA:cheers:,
Aj

I just took off my factory bolted hitch to fit a larger tire, and also removed the bumper to check if the cross member had the integrated hitch... It does, in fact, have the 4 holes with welded nuts behind, but no square female receptacle for the bolt on receiver to sit in. What would it take to fabricate this integrated hitch? Is it just a square piece of tubing welded to each of the stamped cross member parts? (There's two: a main one which has the 4 holes and another which is almost a 'brace' behind). Are the cross members the same between hundies with and without the integrated hitch? It would be awesome if someone could take detailed shots of the jntegrated hitch so we could see how it's constructed :)

@artworks I think it's more to to with the cross member rating (?) than the bolted design. Can someone comment on that?

OK. So if I understand correctly
, this part inserts into the hitch in the bumper and is secured with the 4 bolts shown. THEN, a standard 2" plug-in receiver slides into it? I'm asking, because it doesn't seem like there'd be enough room to slide a standard plug-in into it. Please advise. Thanks.

Can anyone with an FSM tell me what the torque spec is for the integrated bumper hitch? I read somewhere that it was around 60 lbs which seems low.

Thanks.

Edit - 63 ft-lb for all four integrated hitch bolts according to the FSM.

Has anyone found the toyota pintle number that will bolt up to the 4 1/2" spread?

Thanks for this thread! Just picked up one and used some extra bolts I had with a 17mm head and marked 9.
