Update: I might have jumped the gun on suggesting on not using the Remflex...for now.

I was having trouble getting the bolts for the manifold to grab onto the head so I walked away yesterday to let the situation simmer.

I realized I had tightened down the manifold to the exhaust pipe taking away any free movement for the manifold holes to line up to the head.

Also, I cleaned up all the bolt threads from gunk that was on them.

Anyway, got them on without trouble and I'm going to torque them down tomorrow.

I hope to never do this again on my 60.

rant over

Yes, it is not fun... Even with beer.

btw, leave it all loose until you put the "J" pipe and egr cooler back on, if you removed them either separately, or as a unit.

believe it or not, I had the egr cooler and j-pipe all tightened up and set it in place before torquing the I/E manifold down. This way I wouldn't have trouble tightening that one big nut from the pipe to the cooler

Yeah, I made a stubby wrench for that big nut...
