OK this is in the running for stupid question of the week. I have what I suspect are several burnt out instrument cluster lights and have found a source for new bulbs but how do I get the old bulb out of the holder. I have tried to pull them out but don't want to use too much force and screw something up. Any recommendations?

If you mean how to get the little bulb out of the holder which twists and pops out of the backside of the cluster then just wigggle and pull - they are push-in spade type bulbs

1/4 turn to the left and..... :bounce::bounce2:

I LOVE that! Great sense of humor. I do have a question for you though Tom. Your fingers look just like mine--showing the benefits of age. But, how do you keep them so clean looking?

Depends on the year cluster you have. On pre 9/71 the bulbs have a metal base and must be pushed in and turned.

Maybe I had been using Marine Clean at that time...:meh:

I can assure you my hands aren't often that clean-looking Don

I'm thinking Marine Clean because back in those days I didn't worry too much about getting chemicals/solvents all over my hands. However after one of my nails starting dying from being hit with a hammer, repeat soakings in paint thinners etc etc ... I've started taking more care and wear disposable gloves much more often now.. (That gross nail finally looks almost normal but it's taken more than 5 years to repair itself which's given me a wake-up call.)
