I've got the rough idle and CEL on my 99 LC with 129k. I'm going to try and get it scanned to tell for sure, but if it's the coil pack are there some instructions here that tell how to do it? Seems like it's a fairly easy job, but I'd like to hear what it takes to see if I have the ability.

thanks.

The nearest dealer is 2 hrs away, but I have some parts stores a lot closer, so that's part of the reason I'd like to try this myself.

I haven't done it myself, but I'm assuming (once you figure out which cylinder it is) it's an easy unplug wires, pop it off, pop the new one on job. Shouldn't be too complicated. A 15-20 minute job at most, if you've never done any of this stuff before.

Thanks. Sounds like even I can handle that. Now if I can just get the code read to tell for sure. And the code will tell me what cylinder, right?

Starter uh? Can I get that done with a hammer?

So I got codes po300, po303, po306

That means I have bad ignitions coils in cylinders 3 and 6 right? Does this happen to two at the same time.

Some cylinders you have to take a bit more stuff off to get at the coils, on the air filter side for example. Still not very difficult though.

Don't know how unusual it is to get 2 together, maybe one had already gone and you didn't notice till the 2nd failed?

Usually only one bad coil tripping two sensors.

My other car threw several cylinder misfire codes. Turned out all the coil packs were good. Burnt a valve instead.

Well I ended up replacing the coil packs for both cylinders 3 and 6. She fired right up and is running smooth. Thanks a bunch to everyone. Took me maybe 20 minutes and I'm no mechanic.

You can check the two and see if only one of them is bad. Search, somewhere there's a voltage check. If it's only one you'd have a spare. Or if you're really bored you could swap them into another cylinder one at a time and check that way.
