I just picked up some replacement front side marker lights for my 60. I am going to try replacing the "for decoration only" side markers tomorrow (the P.O. disconnected the existing side markers after the housings deteriorated). Anyone have any advice on this? The passenger side looks easy enough, but it looks like I will have to remove some things to get to the driver's side light.

Thanks!

are you talking about the orange markers in the front? if so i didnt know they lit up. mine dont have a place for a bulb. where did you get your replacements? i wouldnt mind fixing it up correctly

You shouldn't have to remove anything but the light itself--just unscrew from the outside, pull out the light and wiring, unclip, attach new one.

tclndcrz--they are a single unit, you can't get a replacement bulb. I think the OEM lights are $28 each, aftermarket I've seen for about $13.

Well, the wiring itself is down inside the front quaterpanel... maybe I can dig it out without removing anything.

As for the replacements, I found them on eBay... not OEM, but they look the part and seem really well made. Paid $36 for the set. Search for seller name 8nojeepparts.

No pictures as of yet... maybe once they are installed.

If your going to go OEM then what you need to do is order the lights for a HJ60 or a (86+)BJ70
They are made of rubber and not plastic but you need to change the bulb and send it to me as its 24v

i just got some OEM ones from cruiserparts.net for pretty cheap. Only this is the connections are slightly different so i'm going to have to cut the original housign and crimp some new connectors on.

If you have trouble finding the wires, just find the wires going to the headlights and if i recall right the marker wires hang off of those. No need to remove anything except the marker lights (2 screws each).

My connections are different too. I need to do the same surgery... could you post pics or send me instruction on parts and how to go about it? I did dig the wires out, so that part is taken care of. Thanks!

i'll do my best...hopefully get to it this weekend.
