@Ty94LC although you have 11 wires only 4 are in use in any case, what i would do is extent all of them and connected by color.
Which four wires did you extend? Mine has the 11 wires mentioned above. I got an extra obd1 port. I was thinking I would make an extension and mount it inside the passenger side kick panel or behind the glove box. Mine has connection issues too but it’s related to engine bay temps.
I’ll check with him again. My toyocom already had the 22 pin connector on it. I’ve got an old hdmi cable that might work to make the extension.
I extended all 11 but found that black was actually not connected to the pcb in the blue box. I went with some Ethernet cable strands for my extensions and had to double up on some colors but this is a pretty permanent installation anyway so I'm not concerned about having 2 of one wire colors in my extended loom. I might regret that if I ever have to do any trouble shooting. I used the same grommet as Dino did and used a big zip tie as my fishtape. I clocked the harness plug to better deal with the stiffness of the new wire bundle and used some tesa tape to make it look uniform and blend in.
It seems like some of the bad connection experiences I had was just a proximity issue because now with the box relocated near the trans tunnel cover I haven't had a single problem. The connection seems faster too, maybe that could all just the app update. I was so concerned about getting it as close to the phone as possible but I might move it back towards the glove box to keep it away from any heat sources. I've been able to connect it to all the android devices I've tried, even a 30 dollar
Amazon fire 7" that had the google play put on it.
Next task for me is setting up a tasker app to make some simple commands to auto launch the ToyoOBD1 app on startup/power on and turn off on power off. There are lots of "using your phone as a gps" tutorials on youtube that it shouldn't be too crazy. I had it pretty consistent on an old dying LG g3 that I was able to bring back to life but it finally kicked the bucket. Overall, I'm glad mine is relocated and out of the heat and rain. I hope it was worth the effort and it last a long time.

@mudgudgeon I don't know of any other OBD1 Bluetooth dongle in the market except TOYOCOM and TOYOFAN by ZF. Do you have a link??
