I will soon be sending my front diff off for an ARB install and I have the D/T's sitting here from the first group buy.

For those who have done the header install:

Would having the Diff out of the way and front wheels off make the access any better for the D/T install? I'm assuming it's a yes but wondering how much of a difference it would make?

Thanks in advance,

Yes it would.
Would it be very significant, not much, but it would help. I wouldn't even think of trying to install these with the front tires still on. You need all the room you can get to get to these bolts/studs.

Sounds like a blast, I can hardly wait! Thanks!

I don't really NEED the headers right now but I'm about to do the diff swap, the 180k, repack/brakes, and maybe sliders so I guess I'm trying to talk myself into also doing the header while I'm at it... even though the project scope keeps growing.

I had my 100 on a two tower lift when i did my install. There were a few times i was reaching in and around the differential to get to a few bolts. Used the engine hoist on the driver side to be able to get the stock manifolds out. Could never get the heat shield out no matter what i did.

Well, headers are on. Doing it with the diff out helps a lot I would say. Gives easy access to the front lower manifold nuts/studs. Also makes visibility better. I think it would be a lot harder with the diff in place as it let me use a 28" breaker to break all the nuts, nothing less would do on my 190kmi truck that started life in MI.

Only 13 of 16 studs backed out and I only had 3 new ones so I re-used the nicer ones. I just grabbed the star end in the bench vice and then worked the nuts loose with a wrench and PB. Then I pulled them out of the vice and held the center bulge gently with vice-grips and got the nuts off (last turn or two) without any damage or any nut splitting. (busted enough knuckles on this, no interest in splitting nuts too ;-) ) Re-using the studs was pretty easy and saved a bit of cash. Consider it an option...

Nice. I too have a diff out for a 99 ARB healing and a project scope growing because "it's easier when it's out". You should do your steering rack too, ha! Definitely easier to access while gutted.

Hmmm...should I get new headers?

It's a disease...
