Innie our Outie? Which way to pound the pinch weld?

Title says it all. I'm leaning toward the inside as this is in the direction of the scrub radius and it won't create a pocket for mud. However the only pic I could find shows it pounded in. Any one who's done it have any input?

I pounded mine towards the outside of the truck (towards the rest if the metal).

I don't think I conscientiously did it that way, it is just the way the metal started to fold when I hit it with my 5lb sledge.

I'll try to remember to take a photo tomorrow.

I went outwards too. I thought it would look cleaner that way.
