Hey all, I'm replacing my tie rods, inner and outer. There's a washer that has to be hammered down to create locking tabs on the inner rod.

During the install, I was only able to get about half the upper portion of the washer hammered down. I had to link a couple of socket extensions and stick it out the front of the truck to do it. Is there an easier way? A c-clamp didn't work, maybe want the right size?

Thanks

The locking tab on the sides? I just use a short 2# sledge.

I was under the impression that they had to be hammered after installation. But now that doesn't make sense, I was severely lacking brain power at that point yesterday. Lol

Not following, but I can be slow at times. It has to be done after installation, no way around it that I can think of. I have to tackle the same job soon, did you go back with OEM parts or from one of the aftermarket sources? I am planning to use NAPA parts myself, always had good luck with their stuff.
