Has anyone been successful at reinstalling the spring on the front inner axle seal? Once installed onto the axle.

IME the small garter spring tends to get damaged easily so when you attempt to remove the axle seal there's probably a 99% chance the seal and/or the spring will get damaged. So better to order new axle seal(s) ahead of starting the work and plan on replacing them.

What issue are you having, gear oil leaking into the knuckle or are you in the middle of the front axle service now?

No issues, it's about 6 month old seal. The guy broke his ring and pinion, no contamination in the knuckle. I blocked off the knuckles with couple of output shaft plugs too pressure wash the differential housing, there was residual water between the seal and the retainer that I was trying to dry out with a rag, while pulling the rag out of course the spring came off the seal. So I'm sure the seal is okay, but I just can't put the spring back on. I don't know if anybody knows a hack?

Don't recall anyone attempting to replace that small garter spring with the seal still in place?? Probably would either need long alien fingers (ET Phone home type) or you might have to hire a heart surgeon experienced with robotic heart valve replacement. ;)

Easier to just pop out the old seal and pop in a new.

Install a new seal.
That spring is tweaked and it won't stay on so it will get munched by the inner workings.
