Guys,

I need to replace my intank pickup fuel filter in my 1hdt, I am not sure if I will find the exact replacement where I live, do you guys advice I use any alternate aftermarket filter if it fits the pickup line? I am also attaching a picture of the current filter

I suggest not installing the pick-up filter. Depending on the model it's difficult to 'impossible' to easily service. On the '74 the tank has to be removed to access the fuel pick-up and filter screen.

I deleted the pick-up filter and installed one of these in the engine compartment where it's easy to monitor and change as needed.

Thanks John, I just wanted to make sure that I am not messing with anything by modifying it. Now I can work on other options as well

Or...I cleaned the piss out of mine with heavy duty solvent and reinstalled it. It's not easy to get too though seeing as you have to remove the 2nd row seats and the carpet to get at it.
