I'm looking to purchase a 2005 LX470 this weekend. I've been searching and looking into if the lx470 has latch to hook up the infant baby seat for my daughter, but hasn't found a definitive answer. Hopefully someone can help.

In my Jeep grand cherokee in the rear seat, there are two anchors on each side for the infant seat to latch onto. I have a Chicco Keyfit 30. Linked below. The car i'm purchasing only comes with first and second row, no third row. This would be deal breaker if i'm not able to latch the car seat in the second row. Thank you in advance.

Yes. There are two locations in the 2nd row. You have to fold down a velcro'd leather flap to expose the latches.
I'd recommend laying a folded towel beneath the baby seat to help keep things clean and protected.

Are there two latch on each side to install two car seats? Not a big issue now as we only have 1 child.

I have a 2005 lx. I only have a latch system behind the drivers side second row seat. The passanger side I have to use the seat belt method.

The four latch anchors in your LX in the second row will allow you to put a car seat in any of the three seating positions. Dig around, they’re there unless a PO removed them (if that’s possible). The flat rear seats should make for a simple install. I install them all the time in all kinds of cars. Latch was mandated starting during the 2000 model year.

If memory serves, LATCH became available in the LC/LX in the 2001 model year, and there are mounting points in the 2nd row "center" and "driver side" positions (not in the 2nd row passenger position)

I concur. My son sits in the middle and doesn’t require a seat. I forgot about those latches and confirm that there’s no latch on the passenger side.

Thanks you all for the quick response. Having one set of latch is enough and if we have another child down the road, it's good to know that two seats can be installed with using the seat belt straps.

I hate LATCH.

I've said this so many times it isn't funny.

LATCH is required, but all Toyotas (at least that I've owned) have a better system - they have a locking seatbelt.

The problem with just about every single car I've tried to use LATCH is that the 'armature' on the aftermarket seat is longer than the distance between the LATCH anchor and the strap of the aftermarket seat can tighten down to. I've tried LATCH in a variety of vehicles with a variety of seats. I think the only vehicle I've had LATCH work is in a 2014 Prius C with a cheap toddler seat where the hooks are only about 2" long. I still found using the seatbelt I could get the seat tighter.

In our 2017 Prius V and our 2001 LX (previously in our 2004 IS300, 2014 Prius C, FIL's various vehicles - including multiple 2010+ F150 work trucks) I use the seatbelt instead.

Run the seatbelt through the base (or the seat) as designed. Click the seatbelt in. Pull the seatbelt out as far as you can and start letting it retract - it should sound different, it should be 'ratcheting' and locking (if it doesn't, when you get to the end, give it a slight tug). Hold the shoulder end and let it slowly feed back in. Put your knee, and weight, into the seat/base and pull the bottom of the seatbelt through the seat/base - pulling the base/seat even tighter - I even go so far as to pull with one hand (by the base) while using the other hand to "push" the shoulder end of the belt back into the car.

We recently had our son (just over 2 weeks ago). The hospital requires that you watch a silly video - part of it is about installing seats. The requirement is that the base (or seat) that is against the seat back has no more than 1" of lateral movement. Even in the video the police officer who installs the latch-based seat still has movement. Generally I can get it tight enough with the seatbelt to where it's nearly impossible to move.

*edit* we also have a 4 1/2 year old, so this isn't something new to me....

You probably already know this but don't forget the tether that is at the top rear of every car seat. The LX has anchors for 3 of these (one behind each 2nd row seat) but their placement is unfortunate in that they're located on the cargo floor, so if you have a cargo mat you have to either cut a hole in it or have it awkwardly placed around the strap.

The car seats we have make it difficult to sit side by side. Do any of you have a car seat behind the passenger without using the seat belt? I’m finding it really hard to get the car seats to not move. No matter how much pressure I put on the seat I can’t get the belt tight enough.

I ordered belts for the lower part of the car seats cuz the ones that came suck and are really hard to pull tight and loosen.

We're on our third kid now. The car seat we have for her is the step right after the baby bucket. It's a Britax, and it actually doesn't have the Latch attachments on it. The base where the kid sits actually hinges up and the seatbelt goes through it there. Once you close the hinge part down, it locks the seat in rock solid and you don't even have to extend the seatbelt all the way out. I have a '99 LX and it doesn't have the latch system. This car seat is much easier to use than the old way to do the seatbelt and even latch system. Now the car seat weighs 5# less than an elephant, but (and I know I lose a little of my man card by saying this) it's a bad ass car seat.
