My friends Dan and Chris, who rode with me on Blanca last summer, are going up with me again on July 3rd with the plan to camp at Lake Como, sunrise hike Blanca and Ellingwood Point, and then drive down on the fourth. Brian and Reed talked about joining me and anyone else is welcome to meet up. I'm leaving the springs pre-dawn on the third and picking up two in Pueblo on the way. Hope to be on the trail around 8:30. Luke and I proved you can do it with 2" lifts and 33"s but you must have lockers and sliders or you'll do some serious damage

I'm in. I tried to convince the wife. Especially with the hiking mount Blanca deal. She politely told me to go F myself lol

I'll have room in the Whale if anyone wants to tag along. Hell, I might even let you drive. (Let's face it, you can't really do any more damage than I've already done.)

I am in, I've talked to my old boss down there and he and his family might come with. Probably in his old bronco or his super modified fj40.

There was a TON of strong storms that hit the mountain this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have to move some rocks as a result of slides.

Also my new cell # is 720-340-0502 you can text me to coordinate. I might go down Thursday night and meet you guys at the trailhead at 8:30.

SO I am still a go on this, my old boss is getting an injection of stem cells or something in his neck on Thursday so he may or may not be in. Whats everyones thought about making this a two nighter?

Still in as well, since the house will be all packed by the movers and I'll be sans cable, internet, etc.

Not sure about a two day deal, but it's a possibility.

Reed, how about coming through the Springs Thursday evening and helping me install my "new" bumper?
;):wrench::beer::wrench::beer::clap:

I would if that "new" bumper wasn't still on my rig :p

I'm going to Alamosa Thursday night. I just drove my rig into work and there are some new sounds :( and I'm getting a intermittent high rpm stutter double :((. I figure the long drive might be a good shakedown, although I may need some help so PM me your number in case I conk out near you.

PM'd you my number. If sh*t really goes south, we can get it on the trailer.

As much as I really, really, really want to do this, the timing is just not going to allow it....dangit. Have fun and post lots of pictures!

Thanks Im going to go through the connectors again and refresh the dielectric grease that seemed to help it last time. Might even take a peak at the fuel pump to make sure the sock isn't clogged and the electrical connector isn't corroded. I think she just got jealous that I was spending all my time on one of my other cars.

Just got done watching some of the Jaws videos from the run last year. I'm much less worried about the obstacles now, though the rocky ride looks like a bit rough. Looking forward to this being my last ride in CO. Fingers crossed that my rear locker holds up for one final run. Still haven't changed out the o-rings on the air seal...

She's running well today, no issues. Wonder if there was some morning dew that got into a connector. I am going to bring my back up engine harness just in case. This is right around the corner! I'm getting pumped.

Out of curiousity, what's the camping situation like? Planning on a fire? Need wood? Just trying to plan for food on this trip.

There should be some wood around, if I remember right we were able to roll a fire all night last time I was there. I might bring my chainsaw and a maul if I have room.

I'll grab a bit of firewood I have left at the house. Burns like crazy and lights up real quick.

This is what I think before and during the 5 hour drive to the trailhead, then for at least the first hour on the trail...

I have room for a few logs that didn't get rained on tonight. Ill cook the rest of my food with a Jet Boil. Makes cleanup easier. There has been a lot of complaining about the nuisance bear around the lake, and it looks likely that we will get rained on Friday night. Brian, are you leaving the Springs Friday morning, or going down Thursday? I'm thinking about trying to get out of here between 4:30- 5:00AM to try to beat all the hikers to the good group campsites. That should put us at the trailhead just after 8:00.

I'm planning on being out of here by 5 at the latest. I'll have everything packed tonight and loaded, so I'll just have to jump in and go.
