so i am shipping the red ragtop out to Alberta for the River Shiver, Canada's ONLY TLCA event.:grinpimp:
I need to realisticly consider whether i leave it out there and fly out to wheel or ship it back again.
With lasts years record of fewest wheeling trips in my 32 years of owning Cruisers, it isn't encouraging to bring it back:frown:

but

I want to support the local club and their wheeling events.

so

are we going to get together and plan a good run?
how about planning a northern Ontario or Quebec run?
how about a 4 or 5 day preplanned event, a day travel each way and 3 days wheeling?:steer:

I would GLADLY bring the truck back if i knew we were going to be more active this spring, summer fall ...:D

suggestions? :hhmm:

I have been checking here since July almost every few days if there any meetings or runs are getting planned, but it seems like everybody are just way to busy with life.:frown:

I will be down:hhmm: for a not hardcore run where birfs and axles are not getting shredded to pieces:rolleyes: as my 80 is stock. Too bad this winter is s*** and no snow for snow runs:crybaby:

I heard Quebec got some nice places for wheeling and travel. One of the places i always wanted to go is Trans-Taiga Road but it is too far and long.:o

As for shipping your red 70 back or not it is hard decision, but i think you always can find something to drive/wheel in your landcruiser park or a seat in somebody's LC if you will decided to leave it in Alberta.

The River Shiver sounds like a great event. I have read a few reports on it in different mags. I really hope to be able to do distane events like this oneday as well as others south of the border.

I really do hope we can get more events on the go this year. That being said, wheeling with this club has always been hit or miss for as long as I have been a part of it. I think 3 runs in a year (1 spring, 1 summer, 1 fall) was probably the most I can remember.

I'm not sure what to tell you, as you know as well as anyone how we have tried to get runs off the ground with only little success. I personally would love to get out and wheel more than we do, but have been limited the past couple of years by work slow downs ($$$) and the trail ability of my cruiser.
This year so far things are looking up and there has been talk about getting out and doing some wheeling. Hopefully some of the other members will also chime in with there 2 cents and help you figure out which way you want to go??

is there any desire to get together at the meetings and make plans for an extended wheeling trip up north? even 4 trucks would be nice and worth the effort. (remember, i need to drive 2 hours to hit a meeting midweek)

I am too far to make a meeting but as we have discussed Wayne I am in for an extended trip . As usual I am probably going to pack last minute and most likely meet a woman or two along the way and loose focus an live a little but still I am in .
Winch rebuild in the works .
As for your rag top do what you always do ! Whatever you want !!

As always Jakob and I are ready to go as long as it is planned in advance. With school and work schedules last min is hard to commit but i think we should have a few have a couple of meetings again. The summer meetings were at hit for those of us that went! What is best mid week or weekend? We can meet at my house for a barbie and shop talk! If so will do in a couple of weeks so people can plan. Parry Sound for us is a go in April again.

Cheers:beer:

what happens when you leave the ragtop in ablerta?! you'l just fly there everytime just to go wheelin?! man, that'd be sweet!

well, i'm definitely down for some wheelin, now that the 40's gettin some attention at Brad's (thanks Brad!)...so, just itchin for the good weather to return. she's gone as far as quinn lake and ardbeg, albeit slow and steady, so she should be ready for whatever's planned next. i'm down for ardbeg if that's the destination again, we can wheel in, camp along the trail, finish the next day and double back! lol. that should feed everyone's fix no?! still tryin to learn about other trails but for the most part, nothing comes close to the length and challenge/variety that ardbeg has. does anyone else have any other suggestions?

anyway, as usual, always got me eye on our lil section.

for those that need to travel the weekend meetings are the best otherwise we lose a couple hours of work, rush to meeting and then a late night drive home.

i like Arbeg, the run in to the end and camp then a run back out up them hills could be a challenge but to just bounce over the rocks, camp, then bounce back out won't cut it.

i have yet to do the north leg to the river so that is apealing.

i would like to put out some feelers and do a run in northern ontario or Quebec. some place new, someplace where no one has been, some place to stir the soul of the adventurer ...

Romey,
it is 5 hours for me to go to Arbeg, it is a nice drive and i enjoy
but
if i am going to take a day to go to Arbeg once a year then i might as well fly to Calgary and wheel for a week solid and fly back. i am going to whine that last year was depressing as far as owning a wheeling rig in Ontario.

it sounds like there are plans to do more runs, for that reason i will spend the extra grand and have the ragtop brought back here to join in.

I still have the KZ but it's not insured (it's for sale if anybody is interested or knows somebody that is interested) and now I have a 2006 Tacoma to pull it. Sold the F150 Wayne since the last time you were down.

So either I could wheel the Taco or beg/borrow/steal a float and bring the KZ.

The house build still continues though ... likely until fall of this year but if there is opportunity for me to make it out, I will. Hit and miss.

hey guys im fully up for wheeling this year as soon as i get my truck looked at this year and tuned up

wayne if u want to do more wheeling i know couple of guys from sontt they always planing lots of off road trips every year. went with them to ardbag in the summer had lots of fun and there all toyota boys u would realy enjoy going with them

well
the decision to head to the River Shiver was cancelled last week
so
the wheeling rig will remain in Ontario.

yes, i want to do some decent runs.
yes, whether with this club (preferable) or another group.

i would like to see the club meetings on Sunday with an agenda to promote and motivate towards some runs.
i would like to attend the US runs this summer and it would be nice to have another truck or two head down with me.
i would like to try some different trails in eastern, northern ontario or Quebec.

A Sunday afternoon meeting is in the planning stage. Brad and I are just trying to firm up a date for Feb. Watch for details soon.
Dave

I propose a shop tech day/BBQ/meeting at my place (pm me for directions) on Feb 19. I will start a new tread as well.
Brad

I'm looking for something as well, something more challenging, it could be 2kms long as long as it is takes 1 day or more to do. Or, a gruelling trip with a cool destination would be amazing. Unbelievable how many bleeding hearts there are in Ontario who successfully whine until trails are closed.

Might be time to head north into quebec plast my camp for some serious searching on logging roads.

Would have to be late fall to make it fun, the roads are so dry now that mud is like rock. The state of wheeling is toast in north america, when I can I'll buy a few hundred acres and build my own playground - everyone can come and play.

There is VMUTS in Mattawa, they said they'd build an off road trail but they just need someone to go and show them what to make - and they make things in a huge way with funding. Might be a good option for now - but 3 hours away.

Keep me in on this . I might need to ride along as budget sucks but would enjoy the challenge .
Cottage is Always available for a run . Scouted lots half way point for all of you 45 min north of Belleville off highway 62 . Lingham lake is 30 min away .
