What kind of gas mileage do these get? What are the maintenance costs? We are looking to get another vehicle and I was "trying" to talk the woman into a LX.

Thanks Murf. Following up on those two now.

Unless you have allot of kids, and a reason that a minivan won’t do a better job, the only reason to get a 100/lx470 is that you don't own a land cruiser yet.

Dont get a 100/LX because you will be kicking your 80 to the curb shortly:flipoff2:

Not kicking my lx450 to the curb, driving it over the curb and into the wild. Phil, the 100/lx470 is a nice car. My Civic Hybrid, Sienna Minivan and LX450 are also nice vehicles. If I could only afford 1 car and had to settle on something I could drive most places I’d take my lx450, got slightly better gas millage than my lx450 and could hold as much as my lx450, I’d get a 100/lx470.
But the 100/lx470 won’t carry my family to Disney land as comfortably as the sienna, doesn’t get the gas millage my little hybrid gets, or the sienna for that matter, and I would never risk a car that cost twice as much as my lx450 doing the things I’m doing with my lx450. In short, the 100/lx470 doesn’t do anything as well as any of the vehicles I have that fill specific needs.
In a few more years the 80/lx450s will be scarce and the 100/lx470s will have come down into the price range of what we are seeing 80/lx450s for now. Then we’ll see more people wheeling them. Until then, I need to tow a large pop-up while taking the family on relatively civilized roads – the perfect fit for the 100/lx470.

Sorry, forgot :flipoff2:x21.

:lol::lol: Did you drive one? Did your wife drive one?

Yes. Point?

Just checkin'... they get a lot of bashing from those who haven't driven one. My wife much prefers driving the 100 over the minivan. Having owned a 2003 and 2005 Honda Odyssey, I much prefer the 100 for road trips. Slightly less room, slightly lower MPG, MUCH better road manners and power. More capable off road than I had imagined (and than they get credit for from the 80/60 crowd). MPG better than your 80, with WAY more power. You can actually tow things with it w/o a supercharger and not impede the 18-wheelers up hills. True, seat room and cargo room less than a minivan, and MPG less than a Prius, but it's a very good all-around truck and moderate off-roader. Much cheaper than owning 3 cars (good used ones <$15K), but hey, if you got the cash to own the best car for each application, then that's the way to go...

Also have a look at the Sequoia, they are pretty much designed for your intended use. The owners who I know, are very happy with them and hear there are some good deals to be had right now?

Not knocking the 100/lx470 at all and I know that a decent driver can make them more off-road capable than me in my 80. But 4 kids and 2 adults move around and fit into a minivan much better. No seat climbing. As for the hybrid, I’ve averaged 23,000 miles a year for the last ten years. Besides, the hybrid makes me feel better about driving the 80.
Kevin, the reason I’m thinking 100/lx470 is that I’m thinking ahead. In a couple of years it will become an off-road toy!

A Sienna is an amazing people hauler and a real prince on long trips. The 100 can't touch it. The 80's just a joke.

That said...with family inside, there's nothing I'd rather be in during a crash...than a 100. Compromises never end.
