Found some goo at the radiator cap. Not actually on the cap or in the fluid I dropped but on the edge as pictured. There was similar goo on the reservoir down tube/hose along it's length.
I don't see anything suspicious in the oil either.

Some of that happens if you drive short trips. Short enough to not temp up completely

it's back together now. watching the coolant level over the next couple of days and then...oooo, I'll be on the way.
