Last November I picked up "Louie" our hj60 and then promptly left the country for about a month. Just prior to that, Sandy (fj60) blew a clutch slave.

So between driving Louie and Bubba (the 40) Sandy sat neglected for a little while.

Well
A little while turned into a darn long time... today (September 4) I finally got around to firing her up again. Of course the battery was dead, and I had removed the starter at some point, so I had to replace that...

but after pulling her out of the driveway, then about one block in 3rd.... cough cough sputter cough... VROOOOOOOOOM!!!!! (as much as a 2F can vroom)
Amazed, I drove her around the block the rest of the way, waiting for the stumble/die routine. Nope.

Drove her a few miles and she worked just about as well as the day I left her parked, 10 months ago. I figured that at the least I would have to change the fuel...

Oh What a Feeling! The sad ending to the story is that only reason I really got her going again was to take her to the mechanic who is going to rebuild the axles/hubs/brakes so that they, along with the OME suspension, can be transferred over to Louie before Sandy gets sadly and permanently de-commissioned.

But isn't it amazing how crawling behind the wheel of a rig can bring back such powerful memories of the great times you've had piloting her through... whatever? I guess not everyone has spent two years living out of their vehicle, but I'm sure most of us have some nostalgia surrounding our rides.

The part that consistently amazes me is just how different two "similar" cruisers can be- there is just something so different about the feel of one vs. the other.

Anyhow
Wanted to share some adoration of these crazy things we all enjoy so much. Hope everyone else out there had a nice cruiser experience today as well.

Final thought: the 2F has a noticeable increase of power vs. the 2H. I had forgotten, but it has a little more pep, not much, but a little.

no kidding. that rig was one of the reasons i bought my 60. reading about your trips convinced me of their ruggedness. now i'm starting to get pretty attatched to mine since my son and i go on "little" adventures so often in it.
