I currently am driving a 1992 Cruiser with manual seats. Being 6'9", space for my frame is a premium. I have looked at the seat frame and it does not seem to be a terribly easy thing to modify to gain more room. No brackets can be easily spaced with washers/etc. Cut and weld options seem to be limited, and may compromise the seat safety/integrity.

So, I am looking for suggestions on aftermarket seats, custom manual seat brackets, or modifying the current brackets, that may allow for a little more wiggle room in the 80. Any insight is appreciated...

You may want to look at LandTank seat extension if you haven't done so.
Unfortunately, that is only for power seats, but thanks for the tip.

man, how do you fit!?

Try calling Total Auto Pros here in Phoenix that does alot of customization. At least maybe they can refer you to someone?

These bucket seats are very adjustable. :moon:

Well this thread went to hell... Thanks for the sage advice, gents ;)

Pitch,
Sorry about all the jokes. It was kind of fun.

I have a similar issue with my seats. I have a 1991, but I find that it does not sit up enough for me. I have read about a mid where you can add a "tooth" to the gear, but I am not too sure about that.

There is currently an 80 for sale in Prescott for $34,000. It has Subaru WRX seats in it. I am not sure if they are comfortable. The WRX was made for racing, so they are probably lower profile.

Maybe that helps a little.
