then go to CT and get the RIV federal inspection done. then go to an inspection facility to get the provincial inspection done.

RIV is only for US (and now perhaps Mexican imports) under 15 years old.

I spent $3400.00 at ATEB when I got my 91 hdj81. I have since driven 30,000 k with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. Overpriced? Bullsh^t. It is called quality service and value.

What is expensive for one person is cheap for another. Sorry ATEB did not invent the LC and aren't the only ones who know how to work on these machines. There were and are guys around here who have been working on LCs long before ATEB got in the JDM show. If you don't care to shop around, I am glad to hear you feel that you are getting goood value for your money.

Canucksafari, if you are asking about my hj60 it is a 87 standard with a new engine put in about 100,000k ago or so. The import is looking like auto, i hear they get better mileage? I am starting to get the confidence to do the BEBs myself. Thanks guys

Actually was hoping your HJ60 was an auto. Looking for one for my wife - who won't drive a standard.

Candian tire is a provincial certified inspection facility but what ever you do don't take it to them they are over priced and chances are they have no idea what they are doing on your Cruiser

sorry, i got the RIV and jdm importing mixed up. canucksafari is correct. using CT was for the federal inspection required for the RIV program. no way in hell i'd use them for a provincial inspection...

I figured you got it mixed up with your 80. Too much heat, eh?

BTW, Cambodian Tire is not the only place which can do RIV. Smart Care here in Abby also does RIV inspections: http://www.riv.ca/english/Independent-Inspection-Centres.pdf. I'd stay a long ways away from Canadain Tire for any inspection or any work. Thankfully, they won't do any more JDM provincial inspections in BC after they messed up so many of them.
