Haul trucks at Morenci copper mine run on these mammajammas. They weigh 8k lbs and need a V16 quadruple turbo diesel Cat engine to move them around. I believe these are 200ton haul/dump trucks that move ore from the excavator to the mill. I shouldve taken a pic of the dump bed that was next to the Cat diesel engine but i couldn't have done it justice. I needed a drone to properly capture how big this bed is.
Having grown up in NV, I'm used to open pit quarries but holy toledo, this mine is ginormous. It just kept going and going and going!
On this trip from Patagonia to ABQ, we decided to run hwy 191 from I-10 to I-40 and the mine at Morenci, AZ was on the way. So now I can officially say I've run hwy 191 from AZ, through NM, all the way to I-70 near Green River, which I think is the north end of this hwy.

Alright, I jumped on Google Earth to find the observation point where the dump truck bed, wheel and the Cat engine are located. Here is the haul truck bed from space!!!

The Morenci Copper Mine: 148 Years and Counting
Most mines are lucky to last more than a decade or two. After nearly 150 years of production, Arizona’s Morenci copper mine, the largest Copper producer in North America, isn’t even thinking about closing.Geology
The Morenci deposit is hosted with in the basin-and-range province of the U.S. southwest, an area where the Earth’s crust is being stretched and pulled apart by tectonic forces. This stretching leads to the development of large blocks separated by faults. As is often the case, these faults provide pathways for ore-forming fluids to migrate towards the surface, while the movement of the blocks helps bring deposits formed at great depth towards the surface. This geology makes the region highly favorable for the formation of porphyry Cu deposits, of which Morenci is just one of many.Alright, I jumped on Google Earth to find the observation point where the dump truck bed, wheel and the Cat engine are located.
