2005 GX470 VVT-i, first time doing a timing belt/water pump change on this vehicle (I have done them on my LX470 but never had this problem).
So...I lined up the camshaft timing pulleys and crankshaft...but once I took off the tensioner and belt I took a break, when I came back, the camshafts both jumped...So crank still has notch lined up to the dot, but passenger cam is forward one tooth, but drivers cam went back by about 8-9 teeth
I believe I missed the 50 degree counterclockwise turn in the FSM...dont yell at me
Now I have some questions:
I assume I just rotate each cam clockwise till it lines up again, but this means a 99 degree revolution for the passenger side (or do I rotate it counterclockwise one notch?
Also, I assume there will be tension on the cam again (didnt want to mess with it until I know more), how do you lock the cam in place?
