Have been enjoying you guys for a short while now and find that your knowledge and expertise is way over my head. Over the years, I've been through 5 Scouts, 2 Jeeps (a Wilys and a CJ-7), 1 big Bronco, 1 Big Blazer and 1 Ramcharger before finally realizing my dream for an LC......and its a '98 100. Wife has a Disco. Never really did much 4 wheeling for fun but have used them all for hunting and fishing.....beach, a little mud now and then, and what most of you would consider light rock climbin' in West Texas.
My 100 has almost 196K miles, has been wrecked on the front right twice, has been bullet proof since 7/98 and is a daily driver. I thought I might end up with an LC Cruiser later this year but after reading this thread, I think maybe I'll just breath some new life into my old truck.
Would you mind giving me some suggestions and sources for light suspension mods consistent with the way I use her? I think she is sagging a bit........
Thanks.........

Dang, I put this in the wrong thread! Sorry..........

Well... in short go here:

http://shottscruisers.smugmug.com/Vehicle Specs and Modifications/117861

And do what you can afford.

But I would say:

OME Suspension kit with diff drop (from Slee)
33"in tires

Is you basic mod

Then you can do some fun cosmetic stuff for free like removal off your running boards and roof rack.... and maybe some ARB front bumper bling!

You can see the mods I did (in signature) and with labor and all it cost about $8K

Many thanks! Yep, the running boards must go...have a good "wrinkle" in one now.........
OBTW, your Cruiser looks great....
Thanks again...........

The web linked cruiser is not mine... mine is the one in the pic next to me name.

I stutter...

I'm sort of in the same boat, er, Cruiser. I bought a 98 with 131,000 miles on it and am building a mild offroader capable of pulling my trailer and still make some trails. I just installed a used set of OME 865's, then reindexed the torsion bars all do to sagging. Doing the work myself I've raised the Cruiser about 2" for about $80. New springs will set you back $160.00 - $175.00, T-bars will be another chunk of change. Just got done raising it today, and it looks better and rides better. Tires are next with 285/75-16 on the menu.

Glad to hear you're keeping your rig. Good decision!

Yeah, what rzpapp said. Welcome! :flipoff2:

Right, I was refering to the one in the sig pic... but the stuff on the web looks great too. I may look for a good '03 or so rather than fix mine up. Its been great, but other than chanaging fluids regularly, I have not treated her particularly well........
Thanks again!

I have been thinking of doing a budget lift on my 99' LC what is involved to get a safe budget lift, like reindexing the t-bars? What about the rear? Spacers? What are the best shocks to go with? OME? I had an OME lift on my Cherokee and it was great. But I don't want to lift to much as I do some high speed driving frequently. (90+mph sustained) Hey its Mexico...

How much lift is too much? OME 865 rear, OME T-bars and shocks will get you about 2" or a little less depending what you might be carrying in the rear...

I was looking to do something more on a budget. I was thinking of leveling it out a little, or a simple 1" 1 1/2" I need to keep it stable for high speeeds.

I would not raise the LC w/ just spacers and reindexed T-bars *especially* because you do high speed driving. I would do the basic 2" OME lift and Slee diff drop bracket or not do it at all... that is if you are interested in emergency handling. High speed wobbles=bad.

But then again, you did say Mexico... anything goes in Mexico. Just forego those '06 wheels (or grill and lights) on your wishlist and put the money towards suspension.

If you are looking, as you stated, for 'high speed handling' and not in need of a lift for off-road purposes why not install larger diameter anti-sway bars? I don't think raising any vehicle benefits high speed handling...

Ditto on the lift and high speed. I would think you'd want to go lower.

Maybe you should talk to LX_TREME. :D

That being said, I can say that my ride got a lot stiffer and felt "tighter" with the addition of the OME. It's no sports car, but it feels better.

Well here is the problem most of the week I am on crap local mountain roads with LARGE speedbumps and potholes everywhere, but once a week I drive out of town and its on open 4 lane expressways. (very flat and very fast!) I might just rethink a lift and only level it out a little. Honestly the stock ride is great for here it really soaks up the bumps and thats why I dont really want to change to much. But at the same time down here you really do need 4wd and some ground clearance because of how bad the local roads are. Not to mention the rainy season when everything floods because no one has heard of road drains... :)
