I didn't give this little light much thought until it stopped working and man is that thing handy. So my question is: Where is the bulb for the ignition switch ring light and how hard is it to get to?

Thanks,

Jack

Well I found it, of course it's the smallest bulb known to man. I guess I'm stopping at the dealer tomorrow for that one.

Jack

yeha i was wondering kind of the same thing but also how do you turn it off if there is a way ?

I got a few from CDan

Normally I would order from Cdan, but it can't be that expensive and because I've got the dash torn apart, I don't want to wait the extra day or two.

no sorry mine is on all the time it never goes off

Not sure of the reason, it should have a delayed shut off after you close the door, but it should go off. Maybe someone with better electrical knowledge will know.

I got the bulb replaced today and everything is working great again. Just FYI, I picked up two bulbs at the local dealer and it was $6.47 out the door.

ok thanks man ...anyone with more electrical knowledge maybe? anyone
any ideas would be great thanks>

Well I spoke too soon. Mine isn't going off either. Does anyone have any idea why or what is causing it?
That and my dome light isn't working either. I wonder if the door switch is having issues. I can turn the dome light on manually, but it's not coming on with the door opening.

a quick test:

does this happen with one door or the other? If so, swap the door switch to see if the switch is the issue. If so, then take out the offending switch and clean the ground contact.

To get to it you have to pull the lower and mid dash panel. Once you do this you will see it in a collar that is held on the ingition buy a couple screws. Check the FSM to locate the screws and clips for removing the panels.

If you have teeny hands and infinte paitence you may be able to replace it buy partially removing the middle dash panel. You can't get to the screws that hold it on without removing the bottom panel..

I am going to replace mine once I get my new OEM lights and switch Mot. :flipoff2:

I was able to get the old bulb out and the new one in, the problem is that now it won't go off. I've got the dome light working again, but that d#$n ignition light is still on. Still don't know what or why it won't go off now.

It stays on all the time? DIdn't CDan say there was a module that controled this and other cabin lights?

Sorry, I was going to post the link but the search is not working right now. The fault is with, I've been told, the room lamp relay which is about $120 and is located behind the glove box as far as I can tell.

I haven't had time to really look into it, but if that's the case...ouch. It will stay on until it burns out. Ali sent me the information to track down the fault, I just haven't had the time lately.
