Hello everyone, just got back from our tea garden that's about a 400km ride. My 12v BJ70 ran beautifully all was good till the next morning. I wanted to start it take it for a wash; and I turn the ignition key: nothing! No lights no noise nothing. Parking/side lights, cig lighter etc also don't work but headlamp hi/lo beams both are only lights that come on. I checked almost all the fuses and 2 breakers for power and heater but it all seems ok. I put back all fuses in. Still nothing. Checked battery lines and all wires around it,all in place! I get pissed off finding no solution and slam the door shut and turn the keys and the ignition is back so are all the lights and engine fires right up. I drove back to my home and now it's again the same no lights. Pls help me find and fix this prob.
Ride is a 85 bj70 12v. Thanks.

Had a similar issue, turned out the battery terminals / posts were corroded.
Took them all off gave them a sand / wire brush. Installed them again and no more problems.
It was funny, would start fine...Drive around the corner, stop, get in and start again. no one home. No lights nothin.
Turn the key a few times and rant and rave. Vroom she would fire up.
I could see on one of the posts a clean spot where the current could get thru and it was starting to pit.
Assembled with grease to keep the water out.

Just cleaned and greased the battery posts, lights came on this morning and she started right up. Went around the block, whenever I brake or select reverse there's a certain relay clicking when those lights come up in the tail lights. Also when the click happens the instrument cluster lights if on will flicker. I don't know where to start looking. Will replace all 25 yr old fuses and relays to start with

Ok. Problem sorted. One of the main POWER wires from the positive terminal of the battery gave up. Changed the wires and all suspicious old ones and now it's fine!

I just had something very very similiar problem. Been through eveyrthing. Finaly suspected a fault/worn key ignition lock, so ordered a new one. Should arrive tommorrow.

I have now missed 2 or 3 good outings due to this problem.
