has anyone sourced the rubber seals that seat the coils against the manifold cover? i notice they are easily removeable but i see no separate toyota part.

last year my wife lost 3 coils on her rav4. afterwards we realized each time it was directly after a trip to our local ski hill and either a very cold day there or a relatively warm day in town. the altitude change is about 3500 feet.

monday i went up to the hill and was parked in a foot of snow all day. came back home to a balmy inversion. yesterday afternoon a coil went.

i am thinking either the weather change makes a tired seal separate from the manifold and/or a pre-existing bad seal allows moisture to be sucked into the coil in those conditions. either way it rapidly cooks the coil. perhaps replacing the seal as preventative maintenance could stop this.

bump

no codes, but i am suddenly getting crappy fuel mileage and rough idle again. basically the same as before i replaced two coils earlier this winter. we have been going through rapid freeze/thaw weather cycles lately.

i am convinced there is a correlation.

Any reason you can get the dims of the gasket and source one online?

dimensions would be part, but rubber compound would also be important.

i should probably look at the o rings at the bottom of the tube too. i wonder if those are replaceable.
