Be careful, though - it has to be 25 years old to be imported correctly - as in, 25 years to the month - not all 1986 vehicles qualify. Definitely verify the month of manufacture before getting the vehicle...better safe than sorry...!

I need to go back thru my papework but I'm pretty sure it is 21 years now as of 2010 and the new regulations (which are stricter in every other regard). Plus it says it is already in NH. Most DMV's are redneck as hell and just want your money anyway. At least in Oregon where it was Wam bam shabam for mine. But then again mine was legal and over 25 so who knows.

Come on guys....If our Hispanic neighbors to the south can sneak themselves and their entire family ( including their dog ) into the U.S.
them surely someone can sneak a relatively small Toyota truck in also.:) ......1978HJ45

DOT is 25 years. the other one is 21...

The other one being EPA. I was just looking thru my importation paperwork and on EPA Form 3520-1 Revision 4-10 Code E states that vehicles over 21 years are exempt. Form HS7 from the NHTSA states 25 on the very first block.

Oh well it was worth a try.

People are getting them in. You just have to know the right people. Kinda of the only reason I got mine out of Colombia. Hell in my last unit guys were importing wive's and they were most definitely under 25 :).

Just be VERY careful. Do a search on all the threads on cruiserparts. They are in the running to become the next Mushro.

Hopefully some of the good HJ75's from "down under" will show up in the States eventually.

There should be plenty of room in a "Chinook" for any "70 Series":)
