These vehicles are not so special as to require a stated value policy.
Just go with a reputable company and as any claim in ANY vehicle, expect to be negotiating at claim time.
This is nothing outside the norm.

The initial insurance appraisal came back way lower than I expected, and they would not budge despite me providing a bill of sale, all receipts, providing similar sale ads, etc.
I ended hiring an independent appraisal company AAG who sent a rep to first appraise the Land Cruiser, and then negotiate on my behalf. The agent they sent out was a through and through car nut. He spent over three hours pouring over and under the vehicle, looking at everything, taking notes and photographs. He even used a paint depth garage all over the truck to prove it’s never had paintwork. The initial insurance adjuster spent maybe 45 minutes looking at the vehicle.
The insurance company then invoked the “appraisal clause” and hired a second appraiser after receiving AAGs evaluation report. That second appraiser seemed more competent than the first as well. This second appraiser and mine then discussed an agreed upon value. All said and done, hiring my own appraiser netted me $12,000 more than insurance initially wanted to pay out.
I opted to keep the now totaled Land Cruiser to use what I can on the next build (and maybe sell some parts, too.)
Once that was all settled, I picked up a 05 LX470 to use as a starting point. Not much maintenance history, but TB recently done, super clean inside and out, and rust free.

Thank you to everyone who offered support and advice to help in this process. You guys are the reason I was able to successfully argue the value of the vehicle and receive a fair payment.

If you let them take your money, they will. Glad this worked out for you, congrats on the new ride!

Awesome outcome for sure! Glad everything worked out and thanks for the tips on handling insurance. Hopefully none of us have to do that, but it's good to know how to go about getting the fairest value for our cruisers. Happy you were able to stay in the 100 Cult :). Congrats on the new LX! Now, where are the pics?
