hello all, my 85 60 was high idling erratically (is that spelled right?) when the ac compressor kicked on, like surging to 3000 and back down to @1200. i dc'd the valve to stop the problem, the dealer tells me the part is discontinued. does anybody know of a vendor who carries them? its getting hot in az and i'm getting tired of keeping the idle up at stop lights with the go pedal. thanks.

The valve controls a vacuum motor on the front of the carb. The linkage from the vac motor is ajustable to set the high idle speed. Reconnect the valve, turn of the AC and back out the adjuster screw until the high rpm is about 1200. You shouldn't need to replace anything.

Yeah, I agree with 60Wag. I had the same problem and the AC idle screw was out of adjustment. If the idle is increasing when the AC turns on, that probably means the vacuum pot is working. The AC idle screw is on the front of the carb, right next to the AC vacuum pot.

Also make sure that the vac lines are not swichec backwards and going to the wrong ports on the VCV. Look at the diagram on the firewall for this. If they are switched and the a/c kicks on the idle will kick up even higher than normal. Yous prolly is correct and just out of adjustment, but it takes two seconds to check to be sure.
