Idle speed: 2002 Taco

On behalf of a friend, I'm going to throw this out there to see if anyone has an "ah-ha" for him.

He has a 2002 6 cylinder manual EFI tacoma. Recently it has started to get a sticking/vascillating throttle. When warmed up, it will stick at 2200 rpm for a while, then drop to 1200, then go back and forth between the two.

Any thoughts?

My first thought is the TPS may be out of adjust ment. Throttle position sensor....Worth a shot.

Another thing to check is going to be the IAC (idle air control)

No TPS adjustment on a 2002 Taco. Is he running a K&N filter or other cold air intake? Is it low on coolant?
