idle screw mixture

Alright I'm sure that everyone is sick of my questions by now but I'll tell you now, I'm too poor for the mechanic & I need this thing to run so I can get to work.
I adjusted the idle mixture screw out until the car stays running but now when I give it the gas it just sputters before slightly rough reving. What am I missing. I'm convinced jim is right and the secondary diaphram is gone and I'm getting a carb rebuild kit tomorrow. I there any thing else I can try?

The failed sec. diaphragm is not causing these symptoms. The only symptom of a bad one is a lack of power above 2500RPM.
