are the idle solenoids the same in the fj 40's and 60's of the same year. i ask because toyota wants $140 for one and ccot has them for $16 right now but for fj 40's of the same year.
it looks the same

Yes, the idle solenoid is the same for all US 79-87 2F carbs.

Be aware that I recently serviced a carb w/ a new CCOT solenoid in it. The el-cheapo solenoid they were (are?) selling was for a starlet or something where toyota was selling these ICS for cheap to get rid of them.

They thread into the Cruiser carb properly, but the wire is too short, had the wrong connector, and most importantly, the orifice is too small, which causes a noticeable off-idle sag.

wow. thanks. maybe ill just spring for the spendy one.

oh its bad. its broken off on the end. i have to pull the top of the carb i believe to get the end out

The air cleaner has to come off but the carb can stay put. The solenoid just screws into the carb. Try Cruiserparts.net for good deals on used parts.
