Hey all,

First time LC owner and first time owning a vehicle with a V8 so please do roast me if this is idiotic.

Is this noise normal while idling, or is there cause for concern? I never really paid attention to it but I noticed it tonight, might have to really raise the volume on your phone/computer to hear it properly.

Thanks

Not sure about your year, but my '08 does about 1200 rpm then drops to about 780 over the course of 1-2 mins. There's a series of 2 noises that occur. I can't tell you where the noises are coming from and what they indicate, but I know they always happen, and I know how the engine sounds when it's at 785 rpm. If you haven't done so, be in the vehicle when you crank it. Stay in it and don't move it for about 2 minutes. Allow the engine to go through whatever and then come it's "ready" rpm level.

The Cruiser should sound, feel, perform, and behave solid consistently no matter the environment.

Welcome to the forum, congrats on the Cruiser, and congrats on getting a V8. The 5.7 liter is a beast. You'll appreciate how very quiet it is going 75mph. You're gonna love the torque when it's fully loaded and on the trail. When we first got our '08 out of Iowa, I was hitting the hammer lane doing about 90 just to check 'er out. I told my wife and she was shocked how quiet was the ride and the engine.

Awesome, thanks so much man. Appreciate it a lot.

Was your engine even running? Couldn't tell. ;) All of my Toyotas seem a little "ticky" to me. Its worse on initial startup then gets better when the idle rpm kicks down. The "worse" is just cold engine. My Tacoma is more "ticky" than the Rav and LC. The 5.7 is the quietest. None are concerning. Yours sounded fine.

Gotcha, my mind can rest easy then thank you all for the replies, much appreciated.
