I'm with you on the nylon lock nuts. It wasn't so much about them backing out due to vibration, but more about making contact vertically with the battery bracket. When I just floated it on the J-hook between nuts (before I added the second nut to jam it into the battery bracket), it twisted back and forth due to the 'J' having play. Not a problem when the J-hook is there by itself but I added a 3lb block of metal onto it which stresses it laterally under vibration. I didn't want the hook to twist and weaken over time and adding the second nut allowed the setup to make contact with the battery bracket while staying low enough to clear the hood. I didn't explain that really well in the video so good catch.Again! View attachment 2583190
But if I can make one suggestion, lose the double nuts!
I only use nylon-insert locknuts on all vehicle applications. They are a lot simpler to use and avoid loosening from vibration and cheap.
Just a hint, use a wee bit of lube (WD-40?) or something on the nut threads, AND screw them on slowly. If you don't they can bind and you'll be really stuck trying to get them off.
