Just received a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder that we're avertised as Toyota genuine parts. The package for both had sticker reflecting Toyota genuine parts. The clutch master cylinder has aisin molded ito the casting and the slave has two unrecognized markings. I would think that Toyota should be identified somewhere on the part? Can someone please clarify how to verify Toyota genuine parts?

Aisin is the OEM supplier for clutch master and slave cylinders (and many other parts).

Typically if you see a Toyota casting it's going to be a "TEQ" logo. Like others have said, Aisin is the OEM supplier.

So would the same two parts ordered from aisin be identical to the ones I purchased with the Toyota genuine stick on the pacing?

There's a lot of mis-use of OE vs. OEM.

Aisin is an OEM supplier to Toyota. A genuine Toyota part (OE) is one that comes in Toyota packaging and usually has, as mentioned, the TEQ symbol on it somewhere. The OEM may sell the part aftermarket under its own or rebranded labels and may or may not be the same spec as what the Vehicle company wanted. Usually it is. I've never seen the OEM aftermarket for Land Cruisers be any different other than the TEQ symbol machined off or covered.

However, I don't remember if the Clutch Master/Slave has the TEQ symbol, and you don't mention the year of your truck.

It a 77. The clutch master has TEQ on it.the slave has the number 54 and a symbol that looks like three small triangLes in a row. My concern is that I paid $180 for the clutch master cylinder OE and you can buy AISIN clutch master new for $60. If they re the same part minus he TEQ symbol, I will return and by othe and save money.

The symbol on slave is 'Mountain' brand. It's a Toyota OEM. Same as on my 74 which I bought from from a Toyota dealer.

Yes, you paid full retail price. Next time, contact BENO (Dealer parts wizard) 25% discount for MUD and no doubt about genuine parts or not.

Here's his info:

Plus there's lots of other sellers of Genuine OEM Toyota Parts here on MUD. And lots of horror stories about who NOT to buy from. BTW you think that's weird about labeling of "OEM" Toyota parts? Next time you're at a Toyota Dealership, open the doors, hood, or trunk of a "Scion/Toyota" FR-S. It's stamped SUBARU. Guess who built the body of the 80-series and 70 series Land Cruisers? It ain't Toyota. A little company called Araco. Confused yet?

Quite often NAPA, O'Reilly, Rock Auto, and A-Line auto parts will ship you Aisin and Kyosan parts which are both OEM suppliers for Toyota, but they will come in a box that has some other company name on it.

The last clutch master I got from Aisin was made by Advics-seems they have split off their hydraulics division and renamed it.
