Does anyone know what this wire harness is and can it be relocated to create space for either a 2nd battery or an air compressor? This is under the plastic cover behind the battery and fusebox. I was thinking about moving this probably to the right and rear to open up this dead space.

I'm interested to find out as well. Just started opening up some space there yesterday to mount my compressor. I've seen folks use a blank PowerTray for a compressor mount there. I was tempted to go down that route, but they're backordered for a couple months. I'm planning to fab up an aluminum tray over those wires. Won't provide room for another battery, but the compressor will fit.

Just an FYI for those wanting an engine compartment compressor, Slee off road sells them here:
It puts it on driver side next to fire wall. Note: I keep my air hose on my compressor with a reusable cable (zip) tie. And yes, that is a second battery in the stock location!

Nice. I cheaped out initially and just got my modified Smittybilt and 4 tire hose tested last night. Figured I could always swap an ARB in later. All in for around $300 so far. @r2m, did you get a dual battery bracket somewhere or is that custom? I can go back through your build thread if you mentioned it there. No need yet, but power may be on the list at some point and I like the batteries under the hood.

Unfortunately it is custom. The shop that built most of my rig, YotaMasters, made it. You could give them a call to see if they can fab up another.
Owners name is Eric. Great people to work with!

Slee makes a bracket for a twin arb that mounts over that connector, so no need to move it. As far as second battery goes, there’s plenty of room on the other side of the engine bay of you relocate or delete the air injection system and use the shrockworks battery tray.

Then I wouldn't be able to have a snorkel!!! Ha-ha!

A SAIS relocate sounds like a good idea too. It feels like wasted space

Why’s that?
The snorkel is on the passenger side and goes through that part of the engine bay.
I'd have to go look at it again, but I believe it also uses the injection system.

It connects to the air box but doesn’t do anything with the air injection system. I was looking at mine today because I need to replace the foam with the filter on that air injection pump. Now, maybe when you were building yours it was deleted. 🤷‍♂️

The air injection system pipes directly into the engine… it does not connect to the air box or the intake. Relocating it has no effect on installing a snorkel.

Originally I was planning on deleting it with this:

But I ended up finding a good place for it next to that rats nest of heater hoses on the passenger side back near the fire wall.

Do you mind posting a pic of the relocate? Mahalo!

would really appreciate a pic of where the SAIS pump is bolted behind the air box. like what studs and mounting points are you using? I want to add a 1 gallon air tank in the SAIS pump original location.

Thanks!

You can see where it is mounted in the previously posted pic but here’s another:

There are three unused studs that the pump can mount to. You’ll have remove a bracket that the small engine cover mounts to (cover can still be used), and unbolt the white plastic heater hose mount. This will allow you to push the rats nest of hoses slightly out of the way to fit the pump in.

I may have to revisit my dual battery setup.
I'd really like to have much larger battery's, especially my "house" battery.

With this set up both batteries are the same size… group 34 with each with a 68 amp hour capacity.

Here’s what the other side looks like:
