In the 77 Canadian spec FJ45LPB I just snatched up, there were some skid plates in the back and for the life of me I can not figure out what they were too. Can anyone tell by looking at this pic?

I can do that, but figured if they were stock then they may have been taken out when the new trans etc got dropped in. They're nice and thick so I can cut them up and use them for scrapzebrabeefj40 said:

After taking another look I think the plate on top of the pile is from an FJ60 with a little extra reinforcement. The part in the lower right of the picture might be from a 4-sp FJ40 (which might be the same as your year 45 but I don't know 'cause I haven't seen enough of them
). Either way I wouldn't cut'm up for scrap just yet.

After taking another look I think the plate on top of the pile is from an FJ60 with a little extra reinforcement. The part in the lower right of the picture might be from a 4-sp FJ40 (which might be the same as your year 45 but I don't know 'cause I haven't seen enough of them

The one on the top looks like homemade because it doesn't have any drainplug access holes, while the one on the lower right looks like one from an old FJ55.
I was under the truck tonight and remembered the strange skid plates that came with your new truck, so I took a photo of mine. I also have pictures of the VIN plate and the BOS. Sorry about the B&W. My kid must have been playing with the camera.
Can't seem to get the photos attached. I'll try later and I accept free advise anytime.
i'd agree on top being home grown...bottom looks like three speed 55 plate
