I have a question about the ID plate in the engine compartment: What is on there? is the VIN always on it?
I am looking at a cruiser that has an ID plate, but only shows the following:
Toyota Motor Corp.
Made in Japan
HJ60JG-MK
8B4F011K052H55F
No Vin Number. The Vin is one the tag in the door jam, but only there. Can anyone tell me if this is allright?
it is an 1987 HJ60, legally imported.
A secon one I am looking at (1985) has the Vin on this plate
it is an HJ60, legally imported.
thanks for the help!

The vin should be on that tag. I have an 87 HJ61 and the vin is a part of, and follows after your "MK". You might look at the frame on the right side in the front wheel well and get the frame number. Then add the frame number after the HJ60JG-******. Mine is 6 digits. Hope this helps.
