I have 1988 61series and want to put a HZ motor in it with an auto, is their any body out there who has done this ? I have started colecting bits big and small and wonder how much more I need to find.

There are a couple that were done in the diesel forum, I also completed a 1hd-t into a sixty which is the same block as the 1hz.

I picked up a hz motor +a box of good junk ,I tell the wife all junk is good some how I think she just goes with the flow.Also found a 93-78 series tray back hz motor drove it home rear dif shot no rego had to use 4x4 to make it go ,could not get to the motor so didnt care to mach , got it home and found an ATX torbo fitted to it "what ascore."So shuld have most of the parts I need .......Or as the wife calls it junk !Now looking for a auto or mite just buy one from Wholesale Autos all tricked up job done.
So you have a 61? What's wrong with your 12H-T? I think the 1HZ is a "downgrade" to the 12H-T.
vtcruiser from out club has one, but it has a h55f behind it not an auto.
Considering doing something simmilar but with a 5 speed rather that an auto... where'd you get the 61 body?

yes it has a 12ht but it has its problems Some talk of 26+mpg and I get at best 22 on a good day no wind no down hill and gust polished my mates gets up to 28 so I started looking ,bad move .cracked exhaust , turbo housing cracked some bad looking exhaust valves .Turbo man said "Its been worked real hard and long not good".After spending lots to fix this the fuel pump started playing up .Decided to find a rebuildable 12ht best could do was $4,500 aus or $7,000 changeover low ks me do all the work.Some people swear by them some swear at them .I have had the cruiser for 2 years and been slowley working my way fixing things and some parts are a bit xxy but 12ht motor parts are out of this world.$4,000aus got me a going 78 1hz turbo atx, spare motor ,crank pistons rods factory turbo and a box of bits being tlc parts .

12ht =130hp good mpg Bits fore them $$$$ and getting hard to find.Hz =130 hp na, turboed =160 ok mpg bits not so $$ and lots of them.DI Vs IDI. 1 cyl head 6 pistons ingectors and lines golw plugs and away you go, Exhaust and inlet ars the same ,bit of a tinker with fuel pump. 1HD-T . As I have a turbo setup for this it seems the way to go.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the 1HZ parts and landcruiser.
If its a 93 it must be a 75 series,the 78 which is a troopy came along in 1998.
I can understand the frustration of trying to find 12HT parts especially where you live.
Ive never heard of Cane River but it sounds fun if there is some water there
Im looking for a few 1HZ parts to complete a rebuildable if your selling.

Good price. I guess your 12H-T was tired already. I don't think you will get better MPG from the 1HZ, however...

Some times I would sooner get home in the cruiser than befor the cruiser, less mpg is better road transport and a "told you so" isnt life grand. '

Ok 93- 75 series the plan is to fit the hz that is going in the cruiser and rebuild the other hz to like new if not better then swap them sell the old one with turbo kit on it and cruse off in to the sunset .The 12ht still goes good but every now and then the fuel pump gets a bad hunt usaly when you sit on a stedy speed 100-120 ks, and I get" cant you fix the f*#*#*& thing ?So I will .

I will post some pics of Cane River and you can tell me ,Alot of rivers in west aus flow when it rains .We have not had rain for 1 year just afew drops ,more days over the 45 c up to one day of 50 c in the shade. I have not recieved the motor and box of "JUNK" it takes time to ship things over here unles you want to pay big bucks.
