So I think this is a pretty simple question I got ready to do the valve lash adjustment and I don't know what valve is in take in which valve is exhaust can somebody please help me out. On a 3fe 91 land cruiser. Thanks

Uhh...

I could look it up here in a bit. Can you reassure me first that you know the proper lash spec's, how to rotate to TDC, etc?

Intake valves are on the intake manifold side, exhaust valves are on the exhaust manifold side.

I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm doing but I haven't done anything like this in about 20 years but I think I can make it work got the nail Polish on top dead center so I know where that is.

Sorry, I was thinking of an FZJ80. I just put #1 to TDC and adjust all that are loose, rotate 360 and adjust the remaining valves. Works unless you have some really tight valves with no clearance. You can tell the intake from exhaust by following the manifold runners - or you could check the FSM.

If you search you can probably find pic's showing the exact location sequence, but here's what I've got for ya out of the factory manual:

Facing the engine from the front of the vehicle: First cylinder is exhaust first then intake, and it keeps reversing after that: Second cylinder is intake first then exhaust, third is exhaust followed by intake, etc.

Good luck, welcome, and stick around; you've found a great place.

Correct. My last HG was on an FZJ80 and I checked the clearance to be sure the buckets hadn't been mixed up. Thanks for getting this on track.

Not so easy to see the runners on the 3FE, the easiest clue, intakes have an injector next to them, exhaust dont.
