For those that are not following along on my build thread where I have been trapped in diagnostic hell. I have swapped a 2uz VVTI with H151F transmission into my 80. I have worked through a series of trouble codes until I am where I am now. I am getting P0171 and P0174 lean fuel codes and cannot resolve them. I am hung up on the idea that me air intake or MAF could be the issue.

I would like to install my intake and MAF on your vehicle to see if it creates any codes. The vehicle could be a Tundra, 4runner, Land Cruiser, or Lexus as long as it has the 4.7 VVTI engine.

I am up against a serious time crunch and this coming weekend is my last chance to take a crack at it. Is there anyone out there willing to drive to the Jemez and let me do this. I can offer beer, great scenery, maybe some pizza. I don’t know what will take? Oh, I can offer to memorialize you in my build thread on Mud or not.

Not an ordinary ask I know but figured I would try.

Picture of my problem. It is so close to done.

I wish I could spare the time to help out but I'm all booked up the next 3 weeks. My dad and I have discussed doing this swap into his 60 now that old Tundras (especially 2WD) are getting super cheap.

I suppose a 1998 non-VVTI would be of no help.....
Yeah, the non VVTI 2uz uses a different MAF and intake size.

Yeah, if you do this swap use the non VVTI engine. I did that the first time and it went pretty smoothly.

Do you have a smoke machine? I'm sure you've checked the gas cap.

To bad both my rigs are non-VVTI. I always find an excuse to go to Jemez.

I haven’t read any of your other thread

Assuming you have triple checked vacuum leaks ? And fuel pressure?
Yes and multiple ways

Yes, I bought one just for this. No leaks testing with the smoke machine.

I am thinking I need test drive a used vehicle. I wonder what they would think about me showing up with an intake, tools and a scan gauge?😂

I may have made a break through. I cobbled this setup together using an oem intake tube and got better fuel trim results. I will have to hunt down and oem filter box next to fully test it.

I have had lean codes for something as simple as a loose oxygen sensor. Problems get more frustrating from there! Best advice I can give is get an independent digital wide band oxygen sensor system installed so you can determine if it is a sensor issue or the fuel/air ratio. This is a handy setup for troubleshooting any vehicle.
